Polish real estate market opened for EU investors
Since Poland joined EU, foreigners have only been allowed to purchase apartments in Poland. Polish real estate law stipulated that EU citizens cannot buy agricultural and forest land in Poland for 12 years nor any houses for 5 years after the Poland EU accession. Now the first deadline has arrived and houses in Poland are available for EU citizens without restrictions, independent of whether the prospective buyer resides or has ever resided in Poland. Legal restrictions on the purchase of agricultural and forest land for all foreigners will remain in force until May, 2017.
